Compost
Compost is the most important core amendment to any biological or organic program. Aside from nutrients,Compost should contain high levels of all necessary soil biology: Bacteria, Fungi, Protozoa, Nematodes, Microarthropods, Humic/Fulvic substances etc.
Most store-bought or commercially produced compost is completely lacking in all of these biological markers and could be potentially harmful to your soil. Do not be confused, reduced organic waste, which is what most people refer to as compost IS NOT compost.

Healthy soil and compost contain over 25,000 species of beneficial Fungi, and over 65,000 species of bacteria per ml/g of material! Not to mention a host of other organisims critical for soil and crop health.
After many years of microscopically testing compost samples of all types, from all over the United States, BioTilth has finally teamed up with a producer of biologically complete worm castings that produces consistent high quality inoculum. BioTilth also does the batch testing for biological markers to make sure the product is consistent batch to batch.This is critical and most often overlooked. It is not an easy feat to produce a consistent product all year long due to many factors including climate, feedstock, moisture etc. Worm farming / Compost making is an art form and when done right can produce as fine of a biologically rich, nutrient dense substance as you can get. Compost Tea/Extract
Compost Tea and Extracts are essentially a technique of using water to physically dislodge biology off of solid compost and into an aqueous solution for ease of application.
Biotilth will train you how to produce this liquid inoculant and how to assess the quality using light microscope techniques if desired.
